Job summary
South Western Ambulance Service NHS Trust (SWAST) are going through an exciting transformation in how we use data, analytics and business intelligence to support our patients and colleagues. We know that access to information is critical so we're implementing the latest Microsoft technologies (SQL Server, Power BI and Azure) and looking to invest in new team members to support us on this journey.
We're looking for a Business Intelligence Lead who has experience of designing and building reporting solutions using Microsoft Power BI. If you're passionate about working with others to understand their information needs and translating them into effective reporting and visualisation solutions, then we'd love to hear from you!
You'll need some knowledge of Power BI including building re-usable datasets, writing DAX statements, creating visualisations and awareness of the Power BI Cloud Service. You'll be comfortable working with business stakeholders to discuss requirements and working with other team members to contributing to project planning.
Experience of NHS is helpful but not essential. More importantly you'll be great working in a team, taking a positive "can do" attitude when overcoming challenges, and be agile leading others through change.
Main duties of the job
- Working with operational teams to understand their information needs and potential solutions
- Identifying and analysing datasets from operational source systems
- Building datasets, visualisations and reports in Microsoft Power BI
- Identifying, analysing and querying data in Microsoft SQL Server
- Assisting in the development of project plans and ensuring timely progress updates of work to stakeholders and other team members
- Creating a positive, "can-do" culture in the team
