Job summary

We are seeking an exceptional candidate who has a passion for radiotherapy quality management, a detailed understanding of radiotherapy quality assurance and governances processes to ensure a quality driven, safe and effective services . If this sound like you, then we want to hear from you.

The successful candidate will join our team of section lead radiographers to implement, control and maintain the accredited Radiotherapy Quality Assurance system throughout the Radiotherapy service, which includes administration, pre-treatment and treatment functions and to closely liaise with RT medical physics as a supportive service.

As Radiotherapy Quality Manager you must have excellent IT skills, outstanding communication, organisational and management skills to motivate and lead your team, and create an environment in which staff and students can develop their skills and reach their full potential.

Routine working practice for Guy's Cancer Centre is Monday - Friday between the core hours of 7:45am-8pm with bank holiday and weekend working taking place as required in line with the department and service operational needs.

This is a fixed term maternity leave cover post

Main duties of the job

You will be a key contributor to support the service to meet national and Trust quality standards and generate information and activity reports for use by the service in operational monitoring, planning and performance monitoring.

You will be responsible for maintaining high operational standards across a large multi-disciplinary team to provide the multidisciplinary clinical staff with the support to effectively implement the principles and practice of clinical governance, to ensure the service meets local needs while following best practice, professional guidelines and national legislations or regulations .

About us

The Radiotherapy Service serves a catchment population of approximately 1.6 million and is the provider of radiotherapy for the six London boroughs - Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark. The service also receives national referrals from St John's SkinClinic, based at GSTFT, for patients requiring specialist skin radiotherapy; superficial treatment and Total Skin Electron Body radiotherapy (TSEBT). Equipped with eight state of the art Truebeam linear accelerators and a Tomotherapy unit the department is fully equipped to offerIG-IMRT as routine practise, as well as TBI and stereotactic body and intracranial treatment.The service is delivered from three physical locations; Lambeth Wing at St Thomas' Hospital, and from Cancer Centre at Guy's Hospital and Guy's Cancer at Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup, Kent. Low dose rate prostate brachytherapy is undertaken in theatre at Guy's Hospital.The department at Queen Marys Hospital (QMH), Sidcup houses two of the nine linear accelerators and one CT scanner, offering radiotherapy services to the local populations. Radiotherapy treatment planning is centralised from the Cancer Centre at Guy's Hospital with remote network access from the QMH unit offering a complete paperless working environment.The unit undertakes all routine radical and palliative external beam treatment as well as emergency treatment within the core hours of the service.

  • MSc Therapeutic Radiography
  • HCPC registered

Desirable

  • Post graduate qualification in area of specialisation or in Quality Assurance relevant to Oncology /Radiotherapy.
  • Evidence of advanced IT skills

Experience

  • Significant experience of Incident management.
  • Experience with using Q-Pulse or other quality database management.
