SESPA is delighted to support this innovative role within the Trust, offering a unique opportunity for a Physician Associate (PA)to work across both Emergency Medicine and Psychiatry. This joint position provides the chance to develop a broad range of clinical skills while contributing to truly integrated patient care. You'll gain valuable experience in acute and mental health settings, working closely with multidisciplinary teams in both specialties.

Main duties of the job
Emergency Medicine (50%)o Undertake comprehensive clinical assessments of patients presenting to the ED, includinghistory-taking, physical examination, ordering and interpreting investigations.o Develop differential diagnoses and initial treatment plans in collaboration with seniorclinicians.o Assist with resuscitation and management of acutely unwell patients.o Participate in departmental teaching, audits, clinical governance and service improvement.o Maintain accurate documentation and liaise with other specialties to ensure safe,coordinated care.Psychiatric Medicine Service (50%)o Perform mental health assessments in both ED and ward settings, under the supervision ofPsychiatric Consultants or Specialty Doctors.o Support early identification, diagnosis and initial management of mental health conditionsincluding acute psychosis, mood disorders, and substance misuse.o Assist in risk assessments and mental health act considerations in collaboration with liaisonpsychiatry and crisis teams.o Contribute to multidisciplinary team discussions and discharge planning.o Help develop and improve pathways for integrated mental and physical health care,particularly for frequent attenders and patients with medically unexplained symptoms.
