An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Care Group of Surgical Services and we are seeking applications from enthusiastic and motivated individuals for the role of Ward Clerk on our busy Surgical Assessment Centre (SAC) ward. This is a fast paced environment and plays a vital part in the flow of patients through Northern General Hospital.
We are seeking a dynamic team player with proven admin skills. You need to be flexible and reliable to provide efficient and effective Admin duties supporting the Multi-disciplinary team in our Surgical Assessment Centre.
We are seeking a confident individual with excellent communication skills and a professional, tactful and diplomatic approach to work within this busy department. This is a demanding but interesting and varied role.
The successful candidate must possess the ability to work as part of a team and the initiative to work unsupervised when necessary. An understanding of confidentiality is essential as well as a commitment to delivering excellent customer service. Hospital experience including knowledge of Lorenzo would be desirable. Good communication skills and excellent keyboard skills are essential.
The post holder will need excellent interpersonal and communication skills who can work well under pressure, often using common sense.
Main duties of the job
To welcome patients to the ward in a pleasant, tactful manner and deal with enquiries including at times where there may be barriers to understanding.
To assist the Coordinator in monitoring and updating of the Trust's electronic patient systems (Lorenzo/Whiteboard), ensuring data entry is accurate/correct.
Answer telephone enquiries and refer on as necessary to appropriate members of staff.
Input accurate information onto the patient administrative/Lorenzo system ensuring timely recording of admissions, discharges and transfers on system and in the unit tracking out book.
To check and update Lorenzo/ Whiteboard in real time following patient admission, discharge and transfer.
Ensure case notes are collected form Medical Records/other departments and requested from other hospitals as required, ensuring notes are prepared and available for all new admissions. Use of Pinpoint for tracing of notes.
