Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Metabolic Bone Centre located at the Northern General Hospital. The Metabolic Bone Centre provides a high quality diagnostic service, including the provision of densitometry and VFA imaging and seeing approximately 13,500 patients per year.
A Fracture Risk Assessment Service (FRAS) runs alongside specialised consultant-led metabolic bone clinics providing outpatient and day case services to the population of Sheffield and surrounding districts.
Applicants should be flexible and well organised with a professional friendly manner & have excellent communication skills. They should be able to use their own judgment to resolve issues, and have a tactful, sensitive and caring approach to challenges. They should be able to work well under pressure with a willingness to suggest ideas for service improvement. Previous experience with Dxa scanning is desirable but not essential as full training can be provided.
Main duties of the job
The post holders will be working to provide seamless care & support to patients in collaboration with multi - disciplinary colleagues. The post holder will be required to acquire and analyse bone density measurements and vertebral fracture assessment (VFA) images in a clinical setting requesting further imaging and diagnostic tests where necessary.
The role is direct patient facing, requires some moving and handling with patients as well as analytical skills and an understanding of radiation protection guidelines.
