Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the surgery care group management team for 12 months in a new role as Access Manager, validating and managing our cancer pathways. This is the ideal role for an enthusiastic, focussed individual, with an eye for detail who is looking to develop their pathway knowledge and apply this to service development.

The role will work closely with the associate operations manager in validating surgical cancer pathways, monitoring reports relating to national cancer targets and attending meetings regarding cancer performance.

The role will also work closely with the care group management team and clinical teams in identifying and implementing ways in which we can improve the clinical pathways for our patients from diagnosis to treatment, while working towards achieving the national targets.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person, passionate about improving pathways for patients from referral to treatment.

  • Degree or equivalent experience or training
  • Proven skill in utilisation of data analysis IT systems and Microsoft office packages

Desirable

  • Experience of developing programmes/systems that monitor and improve efficiency or safety in a healthcare environment
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Evidence of project/programme management

Previous or relevant experience

Essential

  • Significant operational and service management experience within a Health setting
  • Experience of dealing with non routine and complex problems, chasing progress and ensuring appropriate resource management
  • Working in a collaborative multidisciplinary environment
  • Experience of working directly with colleagues, commissioners, patients and their families in responding to complaints or queries related to access to services

Desirable

  • Able to demonstrate evidence of effective financial management
  • Experience of developing user/carer involvement
  • Experience of complex change management
  • Skills/experience of working with senior clinicians
