Job summary

We are excited to be able to offer a Consultant position working in our Emergency Department (ED), at Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton, Somerset.

You will provide, to a high standard, the full range of specialist diagnosis, treatment and care to patients attending the Emergency Department, and play a full part in the development of Emergency Medicine within the Trust, in conjunction with the lead clinician for Emergency Medicine.

You will participate in an on-call rota to provide emergency cover. When not on-call , we may in exceptional circumstances ask you to return to site for emergencies if we are able to contact you. You are not, however, required to be available for such eventualities.

You will be expected to provide excellent clinical leadership, consultant delivered care and consultant led review clinics.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Entry on the Specialist Register or CCT in Emergency Medicine or the above expected within 6 months of the interview date
  • ALS, ATLS/ETC & APLS/EPLS provider certificates

Desirable

  • PEM

Experience

  • Extensive experience in all aspects of Emergency Medicine

Desirable

  • Additional experience in Paediatric Emergency Medicine

  • Understanding of clinical risk management Competent to work without direct supervision whereappropriate
  • Clear, logical thinking showing an analytical/scientific approach
  • Ability to mentor medical and nursing staff
