Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join NHS Somerset Talking Therapies Service as our new Deputy PWP Team Lead. This hybrid post offers the chance to support the delivery of one of the most successful Talking Therapies (TT) services in the country, with a national reputation for high recovery rates. You will play a key leadership role in managing the Senior PWP Team and ensuring high-quality, accessible, and evidence-based low-intensity CBT interventions are provided across the county.
We are seeking a skilled and motivated clinician with a proven track record in leading teams and managing performance in a Talking Therapies context. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of TT national frameworks, the ability to think strategically, and the flexibility to adapt in a dynamic service.
This post requires a flexible working pattern with 1--2 days per week of on-site face-to-face working, as well as attendance at in-person meetings.
Main duties of the job
You'll work closely with the Lead PWP and Service Lead to support the effective delivery of Step 2 provision within Somerset's Talking Therapies service. Key responsibilities include:
- Team Leadership & Supervision -- Line manage the Senior PWP team, providing guidance, support, and development. Oversee case management, performance monitoring, and activity plans to ensure accessible, high-quality care.
- Clinical Delivery -- Hold a small caseload to support clinical delivery and maintain competencies. Deliver assessments and low-intensity CBT for mild to moderate anxiety and depression, and manage referrals in line with TT protocols.
- Operational Oversight -- Use internal data and national KPIs to monitor service performance. Act to maintain high recovery rates, minimise waiting times, and ensure timely access to treatment.
- Service Development -- Lead or support service improvement, audits, and innovation projects. Contribute to presentations and CPD events that support visibility and learning.
- Stakeholder Engagement -- Foster strong links with primary and secondary care, and voluntary sector partners through the Open Mental Health Somerset initiative.
- Professional Practice -- Uphold clinical standards and Trust values (Kindness, Respect, Teamwork), ensure confidentiality, and stay current with national guidelines (e.g., NICE, TT/IAPT Manual).
