Job summary

We are looking to appoint an efficient and enthusiastic individual to cover the reception area and to manage some administrative tasks of the Clinical Research Facility located within the Heart and Lung Research Institute. The Heart and Lung Research Institute is a joint project between the University of Cambridge and Royal Papworth Hospital to create a research environment delivering patient-focussed research in cardiac and respiratory health. The postholder will be responsible for providing some support to a range of administrative activities across the Clinical Research Facility.

Main duties of the job

You will be expected to:

Cover the reception area of the CRF and to support the HLRI CRF with administrative duties.

Welcome and direct visitors and participants to the unit, answer phone calls, emails and/or direct these communications to the team.

Perform tasks such as inputting information onto electronic and paper databases, organising meetings, data collection for annual reporting, filing, typing, managing attendance of participants as well as any other office duties, all in a confidential environment.

In addition, you will be liaising with researchers (internal and external) to obtain necessary documentation and managing correspondence.

Follow department standard operating procedures to provide administrative service within the department.

Manage the interface between the CRF and HLRI Estates and Maintenance team, arranging different services and housekeeping such as ordering refreshments or maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Be able to interact with members of the public, external NHS employees and organisations, and colleagues in a professional manner, communicating confidential information in written, verbal and electronic formats.
