Job summary

As the Deputy Director of Nursing you will provide highly visible and inspiring leadership across the Trust. You will have responsibility for the professional leadership of Nursing, the implementation of the Service User and Carer involvement strategy, Quality governance arrangements, compliance with CQC, Safeguarding and Infection Prevention and Control. You will also be responsible for Risk Management, patient safety and Serious Incident oversight and implementation of the PSIRF, safer staffing including student placement training, chaplaincy and the management of complaints and PALS.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for providing advice to the Trust on matters relating to Nursing.

  • Service User and Carer involvement including PALS and complaints management
  • Safeguarding of adults and children, PREVENT and MAPPA
  • Infection, Prevention and Control (including the role of Director of Infection, Prevention and Control (DIPC))
  • Professional development and training for Nursing, Allied Health Professions and Psychological staff
  • Clinical governance and patient safety, including clinical safety
  • Relationship with Care Quality Commission including registration, compliance with standards and organisational rating
  • Patient safety
  • Risk management
  • Investigation of Serious Incidents and management of external reviews
  • Safer staffing
  • The management of formal complaints and PALS
  • Clinical Policies, ensuring that that are up-to-date and adhered to
