Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for additional hours within the Optometry service, in the Eye Centre at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. To work alongside our other Optometrist. Giving opportunity to liaise with a wider multidisciplinary team within Ophthalmology, such as Ophthalmologists, Orthoptists, Nurse Practitioners, Ophthalmic Photography etc. We are a small supportive team ready to work closely with colleagues, working within our areas of expertise whilst sharing knowledge and good practice.
This may involve some contribution to clinical tuition for other staff groups, such as Pre-Registration Optometrists, Junior Doctors etc.
Main duties of the job
The primary role will be to support the refraction service for Paediatric and adult patients. This will be an important contribution towards maintaining the eye health and vision development, in our most vulnerable and young patients.
This will require skills in Subjective and Objective refraction, with support if required. However as services expand and where the restoration of services after the Covid pandemic are required, other roles may be developed within the department. Staff can be supported in further learning and external courses to develop professionally and personally, and where this will benefit our important caseload of patients.

We provide acute in-patient and out-patient care for Chesterfield and the surrounding rural area of North Derbyshire, serving a population of approximately 350,000 people.
