Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to support the Breast Screening and Symptomatic Breast Service at Royal Cornwall Hospital. If you are ready to take the next step into a leadership role then we would welcome your application to join The Mermaid Centre as Deputy Office Supervisor.

You will be responsible for the day to day running of the administrative functions for the Mermaid Centre and will contribute to the development and maintenance high quality administration processes. The Deputy Office Supervisor will support the Programme Manger in the delivery and reporting of local and national access targets across every stage of the patient journey.

You should have excellent organisational skills together with the ability to remain calm and collected in a busy and dynamic environment. You will have a flexible and professional approach to the work and enjoy the variety of communicating with a wide range of people both internal and external to the Trust.

You will be self-motivated, adaptable, have excellent time management and a willingness to learn new skills and take on challenges. The work is varied, challenging and fast paced, requiring a flexible approach, initiative and the ability to motivate and inspire others. The Trust will provide a supportive work environment where shared and professional development is encouraged.

This is a full time (37.5 hours) opportunity however job share applications will be considered.

Main duties of the job

  • Supervises the day to day operation of the administrative functions of the Mermaid Centre including the Breast Screening Programme for Cornwall (NHSBSP), the screening of women at high risk of developing breast cancer and of the suspected/symptomatic cancer breast service at RCHT.
  • To provide accurate and timely rotas for the clerical staff working across the Department and Hospital sites.
  • To supervise the admin and clerical team and to provide training and mentoring of new staff.
  • To ensure patients are booked within the expected timescales including Breast Screening assessment, Cancer 2ww, follow ups and 6 week diagnostic targets.
  • To deputise in the absence of the Programme Manager for personnel issues, reporting of targets and delivery of the screening and symptomatic administration.
  • Uses knowledge and skills to problem-solve issues arising and conveys complex information and explanations to those with the need and the right to know.
  • To assist with timely update of all QPulse documentation.

  • Recognised management qualification or relevant experience
