Job summary

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join the renal dialysis team at South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust.

Sunderland Satellite Dialysis Units are based in Durham and Washington and are part of the Renal Outpatient Team. You will work alongside experienced renal staff to provide safe effective care for our patients.

We are looking to recruit a dynamic and forward thinking Registered Nurse to work as part of this team. Renal experience is desirable but not essential for this role.

The successful candidate will be supernumerary for 6 months and trained in all aspects of the role with competency based assessments and mentoring.

This is currently a 6 day service Monday to Saturday

Hours: 37.5 hours per week.

Essential

  • Experience of working in an acute hospital or community healthcare setting.
  • Current experience in renal nursing.

Desirable

  • Experience of working as a registered nurse.

Skills & Knowledge

Essential

  • Ability to provide and receive complex, sensitive or contentious information.
  • Able to work without supervision.
  • Competent in the use of IT such as Microsoft Office.
  • Evidence of CPD.
  • Knowledge of national health and social care policy.
  • Knowledge of evidence based guidelines e.g. NICE guidelines, NPSA alerts, current nursing legislation.

Desirable

  • Venepuncture and cannulation competency.
  • Male and female catheterization competencies.

Qualifications

  • Current NMC Registration (Level 1 adult nurse) or evidence of qualification if newly qualified.

Desirable

  • Degree in Nursing or willingness to undertake degree studies.
  • Clinical Teaching experience.
  • Mentorship preparation.
  • Teaching qualification.

  • Ability to assist patients to move as per Trust Moving and Handling Policy.
