We
are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a motivated and passionate Vascular Specialist Nurse
to join our dynamic and expanding Vascular Team at South Tyneside and
Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust.
This
is a key role in delivering highquality vascular care across both hospital
sites, supporting patients with complex vascular conditions and contributing to
the development of our surveillance, leg ulcer, arterial and venous services.
You will work closely with Consultants, ACPs, and the wider multidisciplinary
team to provide specialist assessment, support treatment pathways, and enhance
patient experience.
Base: South Tyneside District Hospital / Sunderland
Royal Hospital/UHD (crosssite working required)
Main duties of the job
- Delivering
specialist vascular assessments, planning care, and supporting treatment
decisions.
- Running
and supporting nurseled clinics (including leg ulcer, varicose vein and
surveillance clinics).
- Supporting
hot clinics and urgent reviews.
- Providing
expert advice and education to patients, carers and colleagues.
- Contributing
to inpatient reviews, ward rounds, and crosssite vascular support.
- Supporting
vascular surveillance pathways and ensuring timely followup.
- Working
collaboratively within an experienced multidisciplinary vascular team.
- Participating
in service development and quality improvement projects.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) will work within the
existing CNS team for Vascular Surgery, leading the management and care
delivery for vascular patients with emphasis on prevention, screening and
surveillance of vascular disease, alongside time critical vascular care
provision.
As a CNS within the Vascular services,
the post-holder will:
- Provide
clinical expert knowledge to patients.
- Support
patients and their carers when diagnosed with vascular disease.
- Contribute
to the ongoing development and delivery of nurse led services for patients.
- Demonstrate
leadership in contributing to a culture of patient safety and continuous
improvement in line with the clinical governance framework.
- Be
accountable for the assessment, planning and delivery of all aspects of patient
care across the pathway.

effective supportive care to assist patients living with vascular ensuring that
care is personalised and the holistic needs of patients are met.
- Reduce
length of hospital stay and unnecessary hospital admissions.

procedures that offer limited value to patient outcome.
