An
exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Midwife to join our established
team of Delivery Suite Coordinators here at South Tyneside and Sunderland
Foundation Trust at Sunderland Royal Hospital.
You
will work within the Team as a Delivery suite coordinator and will be
responsible for the day-to-day management and clinical leadership of the
midwifery team within labour ward and co-ordinate the safe evidenced based care
of the service users.
This
role provides the opportunity to further develop your clinical leadership skills,
you will also be supported to undertake the Labour Ward coordinators
development programme at Teesside university if required.
As a directorate we are committed to the
development and education of our staff, supported by dedicated practice
development and educational lead midwives. The trust supports us to provide a 5-day
mandatory training package annually to all of our Midwives.
Main duties of the job
You should have an
extensive period of post registration experience with the majority being in the
acute setting. You should be confident and competent in all areas of midwifery
practice. Applicants should
be Registered Midwives on Part 10 of the NMC Professional Register and hold or
be working towards a degree in midwifery. This role is not suitable for those
midwives who require sponsorship to work in the UK.
You will be responsible
for the day-to-day co-ordination of Labour Ward acting as the key point of
contact for staff, members of the multidisciplinary team and service users, ensuring
the 24hour provision of a high quality, effective midwifery service, providing
leadership to staff and expert clinical midwifery advice and support.
You will promote
high quality care, ensuring individual women's needs and choices are assessed,
care planned, implemented, and evaluated regularly, maintain a safe and clean
environment for staff and service users by ensuring compliance with
legislation, polices, protocols including health and safety.
You should have the
necessary skills to exercise judgement in assessing a wide ranging and complex
pregnancy and labour related issues. Ensure and promote options to enable the
delivery of optimum women centred care.
You should possess
excellent communication skills to be able to communicate effectively with
multi-disciplinary professionals and agencies, ensuring seamless care at a high
standard.
