This is an exciting opportunity to join the Specialist Projects team in the Policy and International Health Directorate of Public Health Wales, a World Health Organization Collaborating Centre on Investment for Health and Well-being. The team develops public health knowledge through quantitative and qualitative research including population surveys, systematic reviews, evidencesyntheses and evaluations. As a Public Health Research Officer, you will provide research support across a range of projects examining complex public health challenges in Wales and internationally. A key part of the role will include literature review, evidence synthesis, policy review and case study development on social isolation,loneliness and social connection.
Main duties of the job
- Experience of conducting literature reviews, including using search strategies, selecting studies, and extracting and synthesising study findings.
- Able to critically appraise study information and data sources.
- Able to convert health data into information with minimal supervision, including data collection, data quality audit, analysis and synthesis, and reporting through to dissemination.
- Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods.
- Experience of quantitative data analysis using various software packages, including Excel and SPSS.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
