Job summary
The NHS Wales Executive became operational in April 2023, with its key purpose being to drive improvements in the quality and safety of care - resulting in better and more equitable outcomes, access and patient experience.
This is an exciting time for the NHS Executive and there are Quality and Performance Improvement Manager posts available in the following programmes of the Performance and Assurance Division:
- Quality and Safety,
- Mental Health/ Learning Disabilities and
- Operational Delivery (USC/Planned Care/ Major Conditions)
These posts provide the opportunity for a senior manager or clinician with the right skills, knowledge and experience to work in a national role to support performance improvement against targets outlined in the Welsh Government (WG) Delivery Framework. The role will also include leading assurance reviews and interventions in Health Boards and to work within the wider NHS executive mandate.
These posts will complement the existing team and report directly to the Assistant Director for the relevant programme. Candidates will be required to demonstrate strong operational skills at a senior management level within a healthcare setting and clear understanding of the issues and requirements of the NHS in Wales
Working with all levels of the NHS and WG you will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to apply project and programme management experience and have experience of working across organisational boundaries.
Main duties of the job
You will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to apply project and programme management experience in complex situations and have experience of working across organisational boundaries. You will need to be able to engage and influence a range of stakeholders including executive leads and clinicians.
The successful candidate will gain experience in a wide range of healthcare settings, influencing and delivering real change for the benefit of patients. You will gain experience of working with all levels of the NHS, work with WG colleagues to support national strategy and policy development.
