Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for someone to lead and deliver the Next Gen project for the Midlands region. This is a high profile role which contributes to the Regional delivery of key aspects of the NHS Chief Nursing Officers and Chief Midwifery Officers action plans for Nurses and Midwives. You will be pivotal in working to develop a consistent pipeline of future nurses, AHPs and midwives through a cycle of engagement with children and young people, schools, colleges, and universities; in order to attract and recruit our future generation of health care professionals; a future generation of staff that is diverse and more reflective of our local populations.

Main duties of the job

You will lead and be responsible for the day-to-day management and delivery of the Next Gen project for the Midlands region. This post is for 6-months and you will successfully transition from a regional approach to a local approach to embed the NHSE Midlands Next Gen programme. You will provide the necessary leadership and facilitation shape across the 11 Integrated Care Systems to shape local planning, delivery, and governance of the Next Gen programme.

Working in collaboration with the regional widening access and participation lead, Next Gen Midwife leads, and Allied Health Profession workforce leads, you will develop an integrated approach for Next Gen, ensuring best use of resources and value for money. Through liaison and networking with other Next Gen Leads and stakeholders you will identify, collate shared good practice across the region in relation to Next Gen delivery approaches and resources.

Key components of the project management will be to collate system-based progress updates to monitor system delivery against timescales, identifying any risks to programme delivery and systems in need of further support. You will collate data from various sources to monitor the delivery of project key performance indicators, and present regular reports to the Project Steering Group and the Nursing and Midwifery Workforce Board.
