We have an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic, motivated and flexible Bank Health Care Assistants to join our In Patient Unit.

As a key member of a skilled interdisciplinary team, you will support the holistic needs of patients, their families and carers. Working alongside our Registered Nurses and other healthcare professionals, you will deliver the highest standards of service, including compassionate and dignified care for patients at the end of life and those closest to them, ensuring that personal goals and priorities are fulfilled.

Main duties of the job

To work under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse or Nursing Assistant NVQ level 3.

To assist patients with their personal care and all activities of daily living.

To take into account the physical, emotional, spiritual and social needs of the patient, their relatives and friends.

To observe patients general condition, in line with the plan of care.

To help move, position and mobilize patients.

Assist with day to day administration related to patient care.

Help promote and maintain an environment conducive to meeting the needs of patients, their relatives and friends.

Participate in programmes of social and recreational activities for patients, in conjunction with voluntary staff.

Provide support and information to families and professional colleagues.

To be aware of and adhere to all local policies/protocols.

Patient care duties

To listen and talk with patients, their families and friends in a caring and sensitive manner and inform qualified staff of salient issues.

To maintain confidentiality of patients and those important to them.

Maintain accurate, clear and concise paper and computerised nursing records.

To help promote and maintain an environment conducive to meeting the needs of patients.

To liaise closely with the Registered Nurse within the In Patient Unit with regard to patient care, changes in condition, and deal with queries from relatives.
