Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Locum Medical Consultant to join the Marie Curie team in Bradford. The job incorporates managing the hospice 12-bed inpatient unit and Marie Curie REACT (responsive emergency assessment and community team), an award-winning service that identifies, reviews, and manages patients with acute palliative care needs through a presence in the Emergency Department and a virtual ward in the community. The 3 specialist palliative care services in Bradford work closely together to deliver high-quality, integrated palliative care to a culturally and ethnically diverse population. There are strong links with the Yorkshire palliative medicine training scheme, the local GP training scheme and research.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as part of a wider multidisciplinary team to support palliative care provision in both the in-patient unit and theMarie Curie REACT virtual ward, with theEmergency departmentin reach. The post holder will provide a visible, accessible, and authoritative presence to whom staff, patients, and carers can turn forassistance, advice, and support.

The role also involves participation in the hospital's training and education work, e.g.,undergraduateand postgraduate teaching programmes, clinical supervision of junior medical staff, andcollaboration with internal and external healthcare professionals.

In addition, the post holder willbe expected to engage with the service's management, clinical governance, research, and service development activities.

  • GMC registered medical practitioner with a licence to practise
