Job summary

Calling experienced educators come and join our cheerful friendly team of educators working to support our primary care workforce.

With the GP workforce plan on the horizon, we are looking for an enthusiastic experienced educator to lead our Quality and educator support programme. You will build on our recent training expansion success, enthuse educators of the future, help them through their training, and support and mentor new educators.

In this role you will work closely with Camilla Tilbury, our Primary care Associate Dean and the GP TPD teams in Peterborough, West Cambridgeshire and Cambridge to increase trainee placements, support the retention of GP educators, and work with our locum and out of hours supervisor colleagues to build educational capacity.

If you have experience as a GP trainer, TPD or in another senior educator role and are interested in leading a team responsible for quality assurance, support and development of our GP and multi-professional educator workforce, we would love to hear from you.

The role will require some flexible working, mainly working from home, with availability at least one day each month on a Tuesday and Wednesday to overlap with our local VTS schemes for joint working.

Main duties of the job

  • Lead the Quality approval process for the organisations (practices & PCNs) and learners.
  • Assess & evaluate learning environments against the quality standards and advise on improvement plans
  • Support practices & PCNs to achieve the required quality standards to deliver high quality placements, utilising the Intensive Support Framework (ISF) for escalation & de-escalation of concerns.
  • Support developing diversity in our educator workforce, raising awareness with learning environments around differential attainment, connecting educators with NHSE support & identifying system changes required to avoid DA impacting learners.
  • Develop & expand the capacity of high-quality learning placements at undergraduate & postgraduate levels, including provision, training & development of a faculty of multi-professional educators.
  • To increase supervisory capacity & improve the quality of supervision.
  • To actively market the Training Hub & engage the GP Workforce in its ongoing development.
  • Facilitate the delivery of the Primary School Aspiring Educator Training Programme
  • Plan, organise & deliver quarterly group sessions for the new to training Educator peer support programme
  • Develop initiatives to support with the retention of our Educator Workforce
  • Working with out of hours providers to ensure high quality supervision for all trainees to meet their out of hours objectives
  • Contribute and represent the Educator workforce in the Training Hub GP workstream
