Job summary

We have a great opportunity to work within a Finance Team within a Charity Setting. We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, capable individual to work within the Finance Team as a Finance Assistant. You will be responsible for the sales ledger functions which include the banking of cash and cheques, checking and reconciling retail reports, processing donor donations onto finance system, bank reconciliations and cash counting. Additionally, you will also work collaboratively with the purchase ledger team which is a great opportunity for development and gaining new skills for the right candidate.

Main duties of the job

To contribute to the smooth and effective running of Demelza by providing a clean, welcoming and tidy environment that supports the non-institutionalized and individual care offered to the children, young people and their families which promotes the existence of a home from home atmosphere.

To assist with counting, banking and recording monies received promptly and accurately To process and record receipts made by alternate means (e.g. CAF, Card Payments) To reconcile daybooks received from Supporter Services and process onto Finance system Checking, reconciliation and uploading of retail till data to Finance System. Reconciliation E Commerce income to bank receipts and uploading to Finance System. Posting of weekly and monthly journals for Lottery Reconciliation of all Demelza bank accounts To open, sort and process incoming post in accordance with Demelza procedures To assist with Sales Ledger Processing of income from bank statements to the finance system To work closely with the Supporter Services Team ensuring any queries are dealt with promptly

Qualifications

  • High level of confidentiality, honesty, integrity and accuracy
  • Numerate
  • Experience of handling cash
  • Good level of attention to detail
  • Experience of using Microsoft Suite, in particular excel and outlook
  • Willingness to learn new processes where required
  • An organised, methodical approach, and the ability to prioritise and plan own workload
  • Ability to adapt and maintain flexibility in a varied workload environment
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and independently
  • Working to tight deadlines
  • Good Communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure during periods of high volume
  • Positive mindset with a can do attitude and working as a team
  • Demonstrate close alignment to all Demelza values

Desirable

  • AAT part qualified or equivalent
  • Knowledge of an accounting system such as Microsoft Business Central
  • Knowledge of a Customer Relationship Management system such as Raisers Edge
  • Experience of working within a Finance Team
