Role: Nurse

Salary:Up to £36,500 per annum dependant on experience and qualifications.

Contract/Hours: Permanent Full- time - 37 hours fully rotational shifts available

This is an exciting opportunity for a registered nurse learning disabilities or Childrens Nurse, who is passionate about providing the health and social care needs of children and young people with a diagnosis of learning disabilities.

Viking House is an overnight 6 bedded short break residential service, suitable for children and young people up to the age of 18 years of age with physical and/or learning disabilities, to include complex health and behavioural care needs.

We work to reduce the impact of the disability on the child's day to day life by providing support for them to participate, make choices, enjoy new experiences, make friendships and be part of their local community. At the same time parents and carers can have a much-needed break knowing their child is in a safe fun and enriching environment.

Main duties of the job

  • You will be responsible for shift leading a team of residential care workers
  • Being responsible for direct care for young people with significant and complex health needs.
  • Conducting individual risk assessments and person-centred planning providing a positive proactive outlook to support the young people in our care.
  • Being resilient in supporting the young person through challenging situations.
  • Beingresponsible for thesafeguardingof theyoungperson.
  • Maintaining accurate healthcare records up to date.
  • Complete weekly medication reports.
  • Support continued competency development.

Role Purpose

Manage delivery of a service to ensure the children have their needs assessed, to understand their care requirements, including assessing risk, and to agree a plan. To also deliver or arrange bespoke training to carers to meet the childs needs.

In this role, youll be responsible and accountable for:

1. Leading on the assessment of childrens individual needs and development of targeted, quality assured plans, including the management of complex caseloads.

2. Delivering through a team or directly, a range of services to children and families, including providing both clinical advice/ consultation and operational delivery within residential settings and to others (i.e. fostering/ adoption) as required

3. Conducting risk assessments and care planning for children with specific additional health and/or learning and neuro-behavioural additional needs

4. Advising on the appropriate matching of skilled carers to children with specific additional health and/or learning and neuro-behavioural needs.

5. Updating electronic files utilising agreed systems and procedures and apply administrative processes to maintain home systems, clinical records and practices.

6. Planning, sourcing, and delivering training in specific aspects of disability and care, including to other providers and to the LA in a collaborative but market charged manner.

7. Leading on specific policy developments in services and across AfC in health and care for children and adults with additional needs aged 18-25 where required.

8. Leading by example to adhere to policies and regulatory framework, including for medication administration, liberty protection safeguards, and other specific areas of policy development.

9. Supporting and monitoring carer households, utilising Action for Childrens Policies and Procedures.

10. Oversight of service reviews at least annually for all children who do not have a LAC review and to report on utilisation and performance data monthly to the Registered Manager

The responsibilities, accountabilities and reporting structure for this role will be reviewed periodically and updated, if required.

11. Ensuring effective, consistent communication between children, young people, families, carers, advocates and staff.
