About the Role (Job summary)

This dual-role position is pivotal in shaping the future of hospice care through high-quality clinical education and robust infection prevention practices. You will lead the design, coordination, and delivery of tailored clinical education programmes, ensuring our multidisciplinary team is supported, skilled, and confident in delivering outstanding care.

As the IPC Link Practitioner, you will oversee infection prevention strategies across the organisation, working closely with our external consultancy partner, Infection Prevention Solutions (IPS), to ensure compliance with national standards and internal policies.

Main duties of the job

Clinical Education:

  • Develop and deliver engaging, patient-centred clinical education programmes.
  • Lead the implementation of competency frameworks to support professional development.
  • Conduct training needs analysis in collaboration with the Governance Team and Learning & Development Manager.
  • Mentor and guide staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and reflective practice.
  • Promote evidence-based approaches and disseminate best practice across the organisation.

Infection Prevention & Control:

  • Oversee the IPC programme across all hospice sites.
  • Provide specialist input in infection identification, prevention, and control.
  • Lead and support a network of IPC Champions, facilitating training and updates.
  • Monitor infection control practices, conduct audits, and contribute to improvement plans.
  • Act as a key point of contact for IPC queries and support management in clinical decision-making.
  • Monitor staff compliance with IPC policies and initiate actions to uphold standards.

Infection Prevention and Control (IPC)Fulfil the role of IPC Link Practitioner cross site:

Oversee the Infection Prevention Control programme across the organisation, ensuring compliance with national standards and hospice policies.

The role includes the coordination of local training and auditing as well as working as an advocate for IPC.

Training and Development

To complete the IPC Link Practitioner Training and attend annual refresher training as advised by IPS.

Undertake Mandatory Training as required by Hospice in the Weald and participate in additional required training and development activities.

Take an active role in identifying gaps in knowledge and skills and how to address these.

Take responsibility for setting own goals and achieving them.

Essential

  • Registered healthcare professional (e.g. Nurse/Paramedic)
  • Degree in health-related subject.
  • Postgraduate qualification in education, clinical teaching, or a relevant field and/or a mentoring qualification.
  • Evidence of continual professional development.
  • IPC link practitioner qualification or willing to undertake
