We are keen to
recruit an enthusiastic and well qualified doctor to join our highly motivated
team to continue delivering excellent care to our patients.
Main duties of the job
You will be required to undertake the reasonable duties of a GP, including surgeries, home visits, medical examinations, paperwork, correspondence, test results, and other day-to-day clinical duties undertaken by doctors in the practice. You are not required to be involved in financial planning, business matters, or other areas that do not have a direct bearing on clinical practice, unless separately agreed.
About us
The practice is currently contracted by NHS England to provide essential, additional, and enhanced services under the terms of the General Medical Services Contract of 2004. All members of the practice team work towards fulfilment of these contractual arrangements.
We are a friendly, well organised, successful, and forward-thinking GMS
training practice, which operates as a single practice Primary Care Network. Located in the heart of the beautiful historic
cathedral city of Durham, we have a list size of over 34,000 patients, half of
whom are students and staff from the prestigious University of Durham.

10 GP Partners, 5 Salaried GPs (most with special
interests),

As a Salaried GP, your duties will include:
Liaising with other members of the Primary Care Health Team, and other agencies as appropriate, to ensure good relationships are maintained with patients, colleagues, and other agencies.
Carrying out work considered outside the NHS, such as medical examinations, certificates, and reports, where the income is retained by the employer. All fees received by you, by virtue of your position in the practice, shall be paid to the Practice.
Maintaining a high standard of care to patients by showing a commitment to continuing professional development and by participation in practice, clinical, and training meetings.
Working within practice policies on prescribing, referrals, and other general clinical issues, which the practice will from time to time agree.
Carrying out other duties, both clinical and administrative, as are reasonable, clinically relevant, and commensurate with the role of a Salaried GP.
Practice meetings you are invited to attend those meetings that are deemed relevant.
Administrative tasks associated with patient care will be undertaken within the working day, with timing dependent on the clinical session structure and practice needs.
Additional sessions the practice may agree with the practitioner that he or she should undertake work which is not specified in this Job Description, by way of additional nominal sessions or fractions thereof. The extra session(s) shall be remunerated on a pro rata basis.
Annual leave entitlement is 30 days pro rata.
Study/Professional Leave is one week pro rata. This includes time out for appraisal.
Scheduled mentoring meeting quarterly.
