An opportunity has arisen for you to join our friendly practice team at Mickleover Surgery. We are looking for a Nursing Associate to work 20 hours per week. This is a permanent position.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role are to support the Practice Nurse in the delivery of nursing services, working as part of the practice multidisciplinary team, delivering care within their scope of practice to the entitled patient population. The Nursing Associate will deliver and assist clinical staff in the provision of treatment, preventative care, health promotion and patient education to help support patients improve and maintain their mental health, physical health and wellbeing.

We are a small GP Practice in Mickleover, with approximately 6,300 patients and we are looking to recruit a Nursing Associate to join our clinical team of 3 GP Partners, 2 Salaried GPs, 1 Practice Nurse and 2 Pharmacists. Job description
Job responsibilities
- Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by the GPs
- Cytology
- Wound care / dressings
- Removal of Sutures
- NHS Health Checks
- Urinalysis
- ECGs
- Venepuncture
- Ear syringing
- Routine immunisations/Childhood immunisations
- Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician
- Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
- Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to GPs as appropriate
- Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation
- Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session
- Ensure fridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with extant guidance
- Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the practice IPC policy
- Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate
- Ordering of stock from the Royal Derby Hospital
- Participation in administrative systems in the Practice
- At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records, consistent with the practice policies and procedures.
- Prioritise and manage own workload
- Recognise and work within own competence and professional code of conduct as regulated by the NMC.
- A duty to advise the GP Partners of potential problems or errors within a range of assigned tasks
- Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required.
- Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post
