Job summary

As part of our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Dispenser to oversee dispensing operations and support a high-performing pharmacy team.

Main duties of the job

The Lead Dispenser will play a critical leadership role in ensuring the safe, accurate, and efficient dispensing of prescriptions within a distance selling environment. You will supervise dispensary staff, maintain compliance with GPhC standards and NHS regulations, and contribute to continuous service improvement.

Dispensing & Operational Oversight

  • Accurately dispense prescriptions in line with legal and clinical requirements
  • Oversee workflow within the dispensary, ensuring efficiency and timely processing
  • Support digital dispensing systems and distance selling workflows

Leadership & Team Management

  • Supervise and support dispensary staff, including training and performance oversight
  • Act as a point of escalation for dispensing queries and operational issues
  • Contribute to staff rota planning and workload allocation

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure adherence to GPhC standards, SOPs, and NHS contractual requirements
  • Maintain robust audit trails and support internal/external inspections
  • Lead on error reporting, incident learning, and continuous improvement

Patient Safety & Service Quality

  • Promote a culture of patient safety and high-quality care
