Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be a caring, compassionate, committed and experienced health care professional who, acting within their professional boundaries, will mainly provide first point of contact, same day care for the presenting patient, along with some routine, planned appointments. Many patients will be presenting with undifferentiated physical and mental health conditions requiring an holistic assessment. The post holder will be able to undertake history taking, physical assessment and investigations to inform safe clinical decision-making to establish a diagnosis and management plan in collaboration with the patient and their families or carers.
They may supply, administer and prescribe medicines as indicated (and appropriate) to address patient need, according to medicines management policy, patient group or patient specific directions or NMC/HCPC standards.
They should be able to work autonomously and as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team, demonstrating a high level of professionalism and motivation.
They will communicate and work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures, and providing nurse leadership as required.

patients, including the students at Bath Spa University.

To
provide the full range of professional first contact services in the Practice including
working both independently and within a multi-disciplinary team environment
providing safe, holistic care to patients in a primary care setting. This will
include remote and face to face appointments.
You
will be required to work within your professional competence and boundaries to
provide both urgent and planned care to patients. You will need to prioritise
and triage the needs of patients, making any necessary referrals for
investigations or to secondary care in the appropriate manner.
Additionally
the candidate should be able to:
Provide emergency care to patients as necessary and attend annual
Basic Life Support and Anaphylaxis training
Chaperone and assist, where appropriate, patients who are being
examined.
Undertake the collection, storage and dispatch of pathology
specimens including blood samples, swabs etc.
Assist in the implementation and management of appropriate
health and safety and infection control policies, as defined in local and
national polices.
Contribute the administration of vaccines as per policy.
Monitor and ensure the safe storage, rotation and disposal of
medication.
Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and
patient care.
Support and participate in shared learning within the practice.
Continually review clinical practices, participating in learning event reviews, responding to national
policies and initiatives where appropriate.
Undertake continuing professional development and training for their role.
