Job summary

We are recruiting an HCA or GPA to join our team at Rainhill Village Surgery who has previous experience as an HCA or GPA. This is a permanent position. Salary will be based on knowledge and negotiable depending on experience with standard NHS pension.

We are a friendly GMS suburban practice in Rainhill, approximately 6890 patients.

We are a GP training practice and strive for continuous learning, innovation, and a supportive culture.

You will be required to undertake the full range of HCA duties. Where necessary, training, support and mentoring will be provided. We are looking for a candidate with commitment to excellence, reliability, and adaptability.

Main duties of the job

Support Chronic disease management (Mainly cardiovascular, hypertension and diabetes)

New Patient Checks

Vaccinations

General nursing clinics

Health promotion

Ensure Infection control guidelines are maintained

Job description

Job responsibilities

To provide, support and maintain a high standard of nursing care for patients as well as providing nursing assistance to the doctors and other members of the primary healthcare team. The duties will include all tasks normally undertaken by an experienced HRA and in addition any roles agreed between the HCA and the doctors as appropriate.

Nursing

New patient registration checks, including completing any necessary paperwork

BP monitoring, 24hr BP monitoring

Urinalysis

ECGs

Chaperoning duties

Spirometry

Provide lifestyle advice to patients making any necessary referrals within the practice

Weight monitoring

Ensure specimens are labelled and bagged ready for collection with the necessary paperwork completed

Ensure sharps bins are checked and replaced regularly and are ready for collection

Clinical stock monitoring

Restocking of clinical areas and consulting rooms

Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording

Admin

Participate in the administrative and professional responsibilities of the practice team

Ensure accurate and legible notes of all consultations and treatments are recorded in the patients notes

Ensure the clinical computer system is kept up to date with accurate details recorded

Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patient health care and registration with the practice

Ensure collection and maintenance of statistical information required for regular and ad hoc reports

Attend and participate in practice meetings as required

Assist in formulation of practice philosophy, strategy and policy

Support QOF and any Projects

To create and send recall letters for clinics

To assist in seasonal and special projects as requested e.g. flu campaign
