Job summary
Due to a retirement at the end of this year, we are looking to recruit a registered nurse to join our team, based mainly at our Wotton site.
We are looking for an experienced nurse, with competencies in all the usual treatment room tasks, including baby
immunisations, wound care, cervical smears, and management of long term conditions. Diploma qualifications in respiratory and diabetes would be ideal.
Familiarity
with SystmOne is desirable.
The post is for approximately 25 - 30
hours per week to be worked over 3 - 4 days.

We are looking for a nurse who is enthusiastic, proactive, and a positive individual who is able to work well within the clinical team, and indeed the wider practice team.

Surgery is a well-established, friendly GP training practice, located in Wotton
under Edge, Berkeley and Frampton on Severn in Gloucestershire.
The Culverhay ethos is very much based around
continuity of care and good team working to provide excellent, responsive
patient care for our 17500 patients.
Our team consists of 3 partners (1 practice manager partner), 12 salaried GPs, a full skill mix of nurses, a
senior clinical pharmacist, pharmacy technicians, frailty care coordinators,
social prescriber and practice counsellors. Not forgetting our fantastic
reception and admin team who work very hard to minimise administrative burden
for the clinical team.
Staff turnover is very low and the practice encourages feedback,

We are a GP training practice (Severn Deanery) with 2 GP trainers. In addition, we are a teaching practice
(University of Bristol medical students and UWE/University of Gloucestershire

Job description
Job responsibilities
- To provide and
maintain high standards of evidence-based patient care and work with
practice policies and procedures.
- To establish
effective working relationships with colleagues and other agencies
concerned with patient care to ensure a high standard of individual
patient care is co-ordinated and maintained.
- To work with and
support the nursing team, fairly sharing the workload and supporting
extended/ opening hours.
- To co-operate and
participate in practice audit and research as appropriate.
- To maintain
accurate and comprehensive nursing records including computerised
information, in accordance with practice needs, policies and procedures.

NMC Code of Professional Conduct and adhere to its principals.

care / ulcer care/doppler/ hosiery fitting, removal
of sutures, ECGs, venepuncture, routine
immunisations- adult and childhood immunisations, travel vaccinations, chaperoning, health checks and health promotion.
Other tasks will include:
- Adherence to
practice policies and protocols together with adherence to clinical
governance
- Maintaining and
cleaning equipment used by the nursing staff and GPs
- Maintaining consulting rooms, stocking and rotating items as required
- Maintain general
tidiness and cleanliness of consulting rooms
- Maintain stock of
waiting room leaflets as instructed by GPs practice manager and lead nurse
- Ordering of health
promotion literature
- Liaison with health care assistant in the ordering of stock from the hospital where
necessary
- Participation in
and adherence to administrative systems in the practice e.g. returns of
weekly child computer sheet records.
- A duty to advise senior nurse of potential clinical problems or errors within the range of
assigned tasks.
- A duty to advise practice manager of potential administrative problems or errors within the
range of assigned tasks
- Attend and
participate in practice meetings and training when required.
- Any
other delegated duties appropriate to the post and/ or as deemed appropriate
