Job summary
This is a part-time role approx 9-12hrs per week over the following set shifts: Tuesdays 1.30-6.30pm (in Ickenham) and Thursdays 8.30-1pm (in Ruislip). There may be an additional few hours of administrative duties. These times are fixed and cannot be changed so please bear this in mind when applying.
Our Reception team is made up of four dedicated Receptionists. Their main role is to support the smooth running of the Surgery by ensuring that all patient enquirieswhether in person, by telephone, or onlineare handled efficiently, professionally, and courteously. Accurate record-keeping and the prompt distribution of documents are essential, as is clear and effective communication with doctors and other members of the practice team.
We are a friendly, close-knit team based across two sites in Ickenham and Ruislip. As a smallmedium sized GP Surgery with approximately <5000 patients, this role is well-suited to someone with NHS, patient-facing, or customer-care experience, as you will be in regular contact with patients and carers. The role will be primarily based at our Ruislip site, although some shifts may require you to work at our Ickenham Surgery, and you may be asked to provide cover across both sites when needed.
We are seeking someone who is reliable, punctual, and committed to the hours detailed. As a key holder, you will be responsible for opening and closing the Surgery at specified times, making dependability essential to this position.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities

Booking patient appointments by phone, online, and in person

Handling patient queries and concerns, providing clear and sensible advice

Processing repeat prescriptions and related requests

Registering new patients and updating patient information

Opening, sorting, and distributing incoming post and emails

Arranging patient transport when required

Filing, scanning, and managing correspondence and clinical documents

Opening and closing the premises in line with practice procedures

Contacting helpdesks for IT support and logging issues as needed

Receiving and preparing specimens for collection

Assisting with cover during staff holidays and sickness
About us
We are a small, friendly team of approximately 15 staff members, including clinicians, working across our Ickenham and Ruislip sites. Our Reception team consists of four supportive and collaborative Receptionists. Most of our staff work part-time and follow their own set sessions and shift patterns.
