Job summary

Holmes Chapel Health Centre is an established GP Practice located in the heart of Cheshire providing excellent care to over 13,000 patients.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, experiencedHealthcare Assistant who will work part or full time. In the role of Healthcare Assistant, you will assist the GP's and nursing team to deliver safe, high-quality primary care services to our patients.

Main duties of the job

A day in the life of our Healthcare Assistant:

  • Weight, height, waist circumference and Body Mass Index Measurement for Qrisk calculations
  • Foot checks for diabetic patients
  • Obtain venous blood samples from individuals for investigation if required
  • Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by Doctors/Nurses including urinalysis
  • Undertake vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
  • Assist clinicians in carrying out minor surgical procedures including sterilising, cleaning and maintenance of surgical equipment
  • Prepare and maintain environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions
  • Venepuncture, wound care/dressings, ECGs, Urinalysis, NHS health checks, etc.
  • Routine blood pressures/blood glucose
  • B12 injections
  • Housekeeping of the clinical rooms ensuring correct stock is available and in date

About us

We have a team of 4 partners, 2 Salaried GP's, 1 Advanced Nurse Practitioner, 3 Practice Nurses, 1 Nursing Associate, 35+ supporting non-clinical team members and a patient list size of around 13,000. We are a large, forward thinking training practice based in Holmes Chapel.

Our practice has been rated as Good by CQC. We take pride in delivering quality care to our patients and have a strong training and personal development ethos.

We are a friendly supportive team of nursing staff who pride themselves holistic patient care. We have regular monthly team meetings, and a voice in the practice. We welcome new ideas that help team to deliver excellent patient care.

  • Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximitery, blood pressure, temperature and pulse rate, recording findings accurately
  • Undertake wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required
  • Carry out BMI checks as directed
  • Act as a chaperone as required
  • Undertake venepuncture
  • Carry out ECGs as requested
  • Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation
  • Provide support during minor operations as required
  • Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session
  • Ensure fridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with extant guidance
