Job responsibilities
JOB SUMMARY:
The Salaried General Practitioner will provide high-quality,
safe and compassionate medical care to patients at Compass House Medical
Centres, working collaboratively as part of our multidisciplinary team and
contributing to the effective delivery and ongoing development of our services.

multidisciplinary team, and contributing positively to the ongoing improvement
of how we work.
The post holder will work in accordance with Good Medical
Practice, relevant contractual and regulatory requirements, Compass House

MAIN
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Clinical Care &
Patient Experience
Provide high-quality, evidence-based and
person-centred general medical services to the practice population.
Assess, diagnose, investigate, treat and
appropriately refer patients presenting with acute, chronic and complex health
needs.
Provide care through face-to-face, telephone and digital consultations
according to clinical need and practice systems.
Prescribe safely and appropriately in
accordance with current guidance and local formulary arrangements.
Promote preventative healthcare, health
improvement and shared decision-making.
Recognise and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and
patients at risk.
Undertake home visits where clinically
appropriate and required. The majority of routine home visiting is currently
supported by the ANP team.
Maintain clear, accurate and contemporaneous
clinical records.
2. Clinical
Administration & Continuity of Care
Hold a patient list on a pro-rata basis as part of the GP team and
contribute to continuity of care for those patients.
Manage associated clinical administration,
including results, correspondence, prescriptions, referrals and other clinical
tasks, within agreed timescales.
Contribute fairly to the management of clinical workload and
administration during periods of colleague absence.
Complete appropriate reports, forms and other
clinical documentation allocated on a fair-share basis.
Manage workload effectively and raise concerns where clinical demand or
workload presents a potential risk to safe patient care.
3. Teamwork &
Contribution to the Wider Practice
Work collaboratively with GP colleagues,
ANPs, the Nursing Team, Clinical Pharmacy Team, Care Co-ordination Team and
other members of the multidisciplinary team.
Contribute positively to a supportive,
respectful and psychologically safe working environment where colleagues feel
able to ask questions, share ideas and raise concerns.
Communicate openly and constructively, supporting colleagues and sharing
workload appropriately as part of the wider clinical team.
Attend and actively participate in regular
clinical and team meetings, recognising these as an important part of
communication, shared learning, clinical governance and effective team working.
Take responsibility for remaining up to date
with relevant practice communications, meeting outcomes and changes to systems
or procedures.
Contribute ideas, experience and clinical
expertise to service improvement and the ongoing development of how we work.
Work collaboratively across Compass House
sites and wider services where reasonably required.
4. Clinical Lead &
Wider Responsibilities
Hold an agreed clinical lead area, based on
practice need alongside the GP's skills, experience and interests.
Develop appropriate knowledge and expertise
within the agreed area and act as a point of contact for colleagues.
Contribute to relevant quality improvement,
clinical governance, audit or service development activity associated with the
lead role.
Participate in QOF, IIF and other practice quality, contractual and
improvement initiatives.
Take a fair and proportionate share of Duty / On Call responsibilities,
according to sessions worked and the needs of the GP team.
Participate on a fair-share basis in extended hours and other contracted
clinical services delivered by the practice.
Provide reasonable flexibility to support
service delivery, including changes to working arrangements where required,
with appropriate notice and in accordance with contractual arrangements.
Where additional clinical sessions are
required to support absence or service need, participate where reasonably
possible, with additional work managed in accordance with contractual
arrangements.
5. Quality, Safety
& Continuous Improvement
Participate actively in clinical governance,
significant event learning, audit and quality improvement.
Identify and appropriately escalate clinical,
operational or patient-safety concerns.
Contribute constructively to learning from
incidents, complaints, patient feedback and significant events.
Engage with new ways of working, including digital systems and service
redesign, and contribute to evaluating and improving their effectiveness.
Support effective use of the skills and
expertise available across the multidisciplinary team.
Work within practice policies, clinical
pathways and agreed systems while exercising appropriate professional
judgement.
6. Learning,
Development & Teaching
Maintain GMC registration, licence to practise, Performers List status
and all other professional requirements necessary for the role.
Maintain appropriate continuing professional
development and participate fully in appraisal and revalidation.
Take responsibility for maintaining
professional competence and identifying individual learning and development
needs.
Contribute to the practice's learning culture
through shared learning, reflection and professional discussion.
As part of a Training Practice, contribute to
the teaching, development and support of GP Registrars, Medical Students,
nurses and other learners, appropriate to professional competence and
experience.
Share knowledge and expertise with colleagues
and support multidisciplinary learning.
PERSON
SPECIFICATION
Essential
Fully qualified General Practitioner with current GMC registration and
licence to practise.
Inclusion on the NHS England Medical Performers List.
Appropriate medical indemnity arrangements.
Evidence of ongoing professional development and engagement with
appraisal and revalidation.
Ability to provide safe, high-quality and
evidence-based general medical care.
Strong clinical judgement and ability to manage risk and uncertainty
appropriately.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability and willingness to work collaboratively within a
multidisciplinary team.
Commitment to continuity of care and taking responsibility for a
pro-rata patient list.
Willingness to contribute positively beyond individual clinical
consultations to the effectiveness of the wider team and practice.
Commitment to quality improvement, learning
and development.
Ability to manage workload effectively and work flexibly within a busy
General Practice environment.

Desirable
Previous experience working within General Practice.
Experience or interest in teaching and supporting learners.
Experience of clinical audit or quality improvement.
Experience or specialist interest relevant to an identified practice
need.

Additional qualifications relevant to General Practice or an agreed
clinical lead area.

Additional Role
Requirements
Enhanced DBS clearance.
Ability to travel between Compass House sites
and undertake home visits where required.
Flexibility to participate in Duty / On Call,
extended hours and other practice-contracted services on a fair and
proportionate basis.
Attendance at required clinical and team
meetings.
Compliance with Compass House policies,
procedures and contractual requirements.
