Job summary
We are looking for a dedicated Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join our practice team. Working closely with our nursing and administrative staff, you will support the delivery of high-quality clinical and administrative services. As a key member of our multi-disciplinary team, you will provide patient care within your scope of practice, helping us deliver safe, effective and compassionate services to our registered patient population.
Main duties of the job
Provide high-quality clinical support to the nursing team, including undertaking routine clinical tasks within your scope of practice.
Carry out patient observations, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, weight, BMI and urinalysis.
Perform phlebotomy, wound care, ECGs and other agreed clinical procedures.
Support chronic disease management by collecting data and conducting basic health checks as directed by the nursing team.
Deliver health promotion advice, including smoking cessation, lifestyle guidance and general wellbeing support.
Prepare and maintain clinical rooms, ensuring equipment is clean, safe and well stocked.
Accurately update patient records and assist with administrative tasks to support smooth practice operations.
Assist with the organisation and delivery of vaccination and screening programmes.
Work collaboratively with the wider multi-disciplinary team to ensure high-quality, patient-centred care.
Adhere to all practice policies, infection control procedures and safeguarding requirements.

The GP Suite is a friendly, well-established GP practice located in Jarrow, serving a patient population of approximately 4,550. Our clinical team includes three GP Partners, two Advanced Clinical Practitioners and two Practice Nurses, all of whom are supported by an excellent Administration, Reception and Management team.
