We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Practice Nurse to lead our team to make a real difference in our patient community. You will already have experience of mentoring others and ideally be able to prescribe. Our Treatment room is supported by an admin assistant who organises templates, ordering and administers CSMS and child imms.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic & experienced Senior Practice Nurse ideally with a background in managing diabetes & possessing contraceptive skills or the desire to further their training in these areas. This is a fantastic opportunity to provide leadership to our excellent nursing team, which comprises nurses, healthcare assistants (HCAs), a nursing associate, & a training registered nurse.

About us

The Family Practice has 5 partners, 8 GPs, a busy and friendly treatment room supported by great care navigators and admin teams. We work in a grade 2* listed building with beautiful gardens and a parking lot and staff bike rack. We are close to Clifton Down station and Whiteladies road which is practical for transport. We belong to a very cohesive PCN and run joint clinics to optimise patient care. We also have an IT team which amongst other things effectively runs searches for recalls and helps with QOF. There is a dedicated Admin Assistant to support the treatment room.

Job responsibilities

To lead the Treatment room team in meeting The Family Practice objectives by maintaining clinical nursing standards, supervising and developing the team to their full potential and providing a nursing service which is focused on long term care to our patient population. This role is now supported by a Treatment Room Admin assistant.

Roles/Specific Tasks:

Managerial:

- Supervise staff to maintain required professional standards

-Supervise staff to adhere to internal protocols

-To assist in developing the nursing team in meeting their own potential and fulfilling practice objectives

- Maintain nursing procedures, ensuring staff understand the requirements and adhere to the agreed protocols

- Act as Infection Control Lead, advising and training colleagues as needed

_ Ensure other nursing staff undertake agreed duties, and that there are adequate staff present to meet the practice needs

- Undertake staff annual appraisals

Clinical:

Provision of nursing care within agreed competencies, which is likely to include:

- Long Term Conditions care to meet QOF targets

-Cytology

-Wound Care

-Travel Clinics

- Vacs and Imms programs (including baby clinics)

- Family Planning

The job holder will manager their own development and training to maintain their skills, including any mandatory aspects to training and/or qualifications needed. The job holder will undertake a sufficient number of procedures to maintain skill levels, e.g. phlebotomy, but may not normally undertake this type of procedures during standard daily duties.

Such other tasks as the partner or Business Manager may reasonably request.
