Job summary

Eagle House Surgery is a busy practice in Ponders End, Enfield, North London, there has been a medical centre on the same site for over 100 years. We provide a service to 13,000 patients and have a large clinical team. The Healthcare Assistant will assist the practice clinical team and work as part of the practice multidisciplinary team, delivering care our patient population.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be polite, approachable, and an excellent team player, with outstanding written and verbal communication skills. They will demonstrate strong interpersonal and customer service skills and be able to remain calm and professional when working under pressure.

We are looking for a candidate with previous experience working in a GP practice. The ideal applicant will have knowledge of Long-Term Conditions (LTCs), be competent in performing venepuncture, hold a recognised phlebotomy certificate, and have a good understanding of blood pressure measurement and interpretation.

We are a large friendly practice and the successful candidate will be supported by dedicated, multi-skilled clinical and admin team and our aim is to work together to ensure we deliver safe services to all our patients. We offer; on going training, four weeks annual leave plus bank holidays and one week study leave. You will automatically be enrolled into the NHS pension scheme.

  • Phlebotomy

  • New patient health checks

  • Chaperoning duties

  • Basic wound care

  • Foot checks

  • BP monitoring

  • Delivery of IM injections (B12 & flu) working in line with the PSD godliness.

  • Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses

  • Actively participate in achieving QOF and Enhanced Services targets and recall demands

  • Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording

  • Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation

  • Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms

  • Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions, including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations

  • Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being

  • Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual

  • Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted

  • Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being
