Southern Health’s Mental Health Services provide a diverse and innovative range of services to adults with mental health problems. Adult mental health services are integrated with Local Authority adult services and delivered from community and inpatient bases with excellent links within the General Hospital, Substance Misuse, IAPT and Primary care.

We are pleased to be seeking to appoint a Specialty Doctor to join the existing team of Consultants and Trainees working in the Adult Mental Health Division.

The postholder will be based at the Elmleigh inpatient unit. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clinical care and treatment for patients of the Acute Care team and for providing clinical leadership to the team.

The post holder will be part of an acute care pathway, comprising four consultants (Drs Jadhav, Lucas, Reddy and Vieweg), trainee doctors (Foundation, CT trainees and staff grade doctor), a specialty doctor(full time) as well as this post. The post holder will work in the inpatient medical team. The inpatient unit is comprised of 3 wards, offering a total of 34 beds.

The post holder will work with the consultants to provide senior medical cover to the wards and to oversee the clinical work of trainee doctors.
