Exceptional medical leaders needed
It’s an exciting time to join us: we have been rated ‘Outstanding’ by the CQC for Caring and ‘Good’ overall and there is currently increased focus on mental health nationally.

Our innovative psychiatric services within the Community Recovery Service Line (CRSL) are recruiting for talented, dynamic and committed consultant psychiatrists in six locations (Dover, Ashford, Folkestone, Maidstone, Tunbridge Wells and Gillingham). You will play a key role in helping us deliver an outstanding service through forward thinking, innovation and providing high quality care.

Outstanding and ambitious
We provide mental health, learning disability and substance misuse services as well as other specialist services to 1.7 million people across Kent and Medway.

Why join us?
- We offer support for special interests
- We have a highly commended research team and encourage our staff and patients to become involved in research
- We encourage staff development and have an internal leadership and mentoring programme
- We have teaching opportunities available with links to UK Universities and an international medical school

Nurturing medical leadership
We promote and encourage medical leadership and our new structure provides the opportunity for every consultant to take on a leadership role in service delivery and governance.

We believe in the importance of the medical voice in mental health and have developed a service delivery model where the consultant leads a smaller service unit allowing for leadership and active involvement in service designs and development.

We nurture the potential in each and every person in our teams and consider their personal development as a priority in our service delivery – making you an integral member of our family.

We offer all newly appointed consultants mentoring to support their development as leaders.

Trust benefits
Staff enjoy a range of benefits including generous annual leave, a cycle to work scheme and support around health and wellbeing. We offer free body and mind MOTs which support the physical and mental health of all staff.

Location, Location, Location
As the ‘Garden of England,’ Kent is one of the best places to live and work in the UK with a rich history and excellent connections to London and Europe. Kent offers fantastic lifestyle opportunities, whether you want a weekend break in Paris, activities in Kent’s beautiful countryside or lazy picnic in our beautiful harbour towns.

The county has many areas of outstanding natural beauty and the rolling hills around Kent are perfect for pub lunches and nature walks. We have exceptional country pubs, beautiful countryside, great schools and much more!

Thinking of relocating?
In addition to the £8k relocation expenses to support you in making the move to a new career and home, we offer up to a further £15K towards attracting the most talented staff, in many posts, subject to conditions.

Change lives in Medway
Medway has links to Charles Dickens, and Rochester Castle which was built in 1127 is still standing proud as a reminder of the area’s rich history. It is a thriving and diverse community providing good access to London, a number of grammar schools and a University on your doorstep.

This consultant psychiatrist will join a team of experienced consultants with good knowledge of the population, the working system in Medway and well-established working relationships with other psychiatry services such as our Mother and Infant Mental Health Service (MIMHS) and CRHT. The community team is friendly, supportive, well-resourced and welcoming with a dynamic team structure.

We are keen to support teaching, research and special interest sessions.

Successful applicants must have MRCP or equivalent and be on, or within six months of inclusion on, the Specialist Register and be fully registered with the GMC.

All of the posts above are 10 PA plus 0.5 PA and 3% Category A availability supplement for on-call. Part time or job-share applications are welcome.
