Biomedical Scientist

Job Reference: 428-ATR9515

Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Poole
£22,128.00 - £28,746.00

Come and join us at Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Not only is it a great place to work; it's also a wonderful place to live. The town has great transport links, a bustling quay and some of the best beaches in England. You’ll also have easy access to the Dorset countryside, renowned for its areas of outstanding natural beauty and the spectacular Jurassic Coast, ideal for sports and outdoor activities.

Poole Hospital is one of the largest employers in the region and highly regarded across the NHS, consistently featuring within the top twenty per cent in both national patient and staff satisfaction surveys. We pride ourselves on positive team work, professional development and support staff to reach their fullest potential. All of this is underpinned by our unique philosophy, The Poole Approach, which pledges that we will strive at all times to provide friendly, professional, person-centred care with dignity and respect for all.

This is an exciting time for our staff, following a recent review of healthcare services in Dorset which will see major changes to the way healthcare is provided. As one of the two acute NHS providers in the east of the county, our services will be closely linked to those provided at the Royal Bournemouth & Christchurch Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. We’re working in close collaboration to deliver excellent emergency and planned care over the two sites, for the people of east Dorset.

You are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (applicants who have recently completed the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) portfolio, currently awaiting verification are also welcome to apply). You are a well organised and highly motivated team player.

We can offer the successful candidate excellent career development support – including the IBMS Specialist Portfolio and the benefits of a permanent NHS contract, which includes:
• Some flexibility with working hours for work life balance. Our core hours are 09:00 - 17:30 with participation in the out of hours rota following further training.
• Generous annual leave starting at 27 days per annum plus bank holidays.
• Salary sacrifice opportunities eg childcare vouchers.
• Highly competitive employer pension contributions.

We have an opportunity for a Biomedical Scientist (Agenda for Change Band 5) to join Poole Hospital Biochemistry Department, which has a large and varied workload and processes, in excess of 1,000,000 specimens per annum. We are CPA accredited (currently awaiting UKAS inspection) and use the Telepath laboratory information system. The Biochemistry Department provides a comprehensive Biochemistry service for Poole, Bournemouth and the surrounding area. There are laboratories at Poole and at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital. Both laboratories are equipped with Roche Cobas analysers.
