Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has an opportunity for a Biomedical Scientist specialising in Haematology and Hospital Transfusion. Our diagnostic services are on two sites, with our main automated laboratory and specialist assays based at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital, Basingstoke and our Rapid Response Laboratory at Royal Hampshire County Hospital, Winchester. In addition we support 2 community hospitals and 3 independent hospitals, providing care to over 500,000 patients. Hampshire Hospitals Blood Sciences laboratories are accredited to ISO15189:2012. This opportunity: Within Haematology we have a post based at our Rapid Response Laboratory at Winchester where we provide a 24/7 diagnostic service: Specialist Biomedical Scientists (Band 5/6) – candidates must be qualified to BSc level and have a IBMS Specialist Diploma in Haematology / Transfusion.

Applications from staff, currently working at band 5 level without an IBMS Specialist Portfolio will also be considered. They must be working towards their Specialist Portfolio and once lone responsibility shift competent in Haematology and Transfusion we will place you on the band 6 scale with an expectation that the Specialist Portfolio will be achieved within 2 years. We are committed to the training and development of our staff, and actively encourage staff to develop their careers. The department is accredited as a training laboratory by the IBMS for both registration and specialist portfolios.
