NHSBT collects and processes 2 million blood donations a year. Our Healthcare Scientists support this service by processing, testing and issuing blood and its components and by delivering diagnostic and therapeutic services relating to the transfusion of blood and stem cells, transplantation and tissue banking.

Our department carries out testing and support services for stem cell and solid organ transplantation, the provision of HLA matched platelets and immunogenetic diagnostic testing. Our partnership with transplant programmes provides opportunities for applied research and development.

A HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with considerable post registration experience, you’ll have a specialist qualification in Transfusion/Transplantation Science. A Biomedical Scientist looking to develop your expertise in Transfusion / Transplantation Science will also be considered for the post, however, as we just have just one post to recruit to, our priority is to appoint a BMS Specialist (Band 6).

The normal working hours for this role are 37.5 hours/week, Monday – Friday between 08.00am and 18.00pm.
