Senior Clinical Psychologist (0.8 wte) Band 8a (Congenital Cardiology)

We require a suitable and enthusiastic candidate to apply for this Senior Clinical Psychologist 0.8 wte post working with the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit, Leeds General Infirmary. The candidate will provide psychological assessment and intervention for children and young people, adults and their families and liaise with other agencies involved. This will include providing active contribution to a weekly psychosocial meeting. Clinical work will be on an outpatient and inpatient basis. The post holder will also contribute to research, service development and clinical audit.

A Doctorate in Clinical Psychology is a pre-requisite and experience of working in a health care setting will be essential. Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to build relationships with children, young people, adults, and their families, often at times of high levels of distress and the ability to communicate complex and difficult information are required. Experience of working closely and effectively with multi-disciplinary colleagues will also be required.

The Paediatric Psychology Service at Leeds Children’s Hospital comprises approximately 22 staff providing a service to both inpatients and outpatients. The Paediatric Psychology Service has strong links with the University of Leeds Faculty of Medicine and Health’s Doctoral Programme in Clinical Psychology.

The Trust will administer the DBS check on your behalf and will recover the cost (Enhanced £48 or Standard £30) from your salary over a 3 month period (including Internal staff). You will also be required to participate in the DBS Update Service and pay the £13 cost per year. This is a condition of your employment. For Band 1 roles the Trust will pay the cost of the DBS checks and refund to you the cost of the update service. DBS checks for volunteers are free.
