The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offers one the most comprehensive range of services of any NHS provider in England. The Estates Directorate is seeking to recruit a highly motivated Maintenance Craftsperson (Electrical) to assist with planned maintenance schedules, minor works and day to day reactive maintenance.

The post holder will be expected to perform a wide range of duties covering all aspects of Electrical maintenance applicable to the trade and be capable of undertaking other tasks & duties as required during the course of a day. They will be responsible for performing the following tasks:

    • Reactive maintenance.

    • Planned Preventative Maintenance.

    • Minor works.

The post is based at The Freeman Hospital and they will be accountable directly to the Engineering Supervisor and overall to the Workshop Manager.

You will be expected to interpret work from drawings, instructions and specifications; diagnose faults and carrying out necessary repair work. The role requires an understanding of other craftsperson’s work in relation to your own discipline.

You will have served a relevant and recognized electrical craft apprenticeship or Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Engineering.

The Estates Department has a demonstrable track record in developing staff to enhance personal learning and promotional opportunities. Individuals will be provided with on the job training and opportunities to learn new vocational skills and techniques through specialist training to develop your career path under Agenda for Change.

You may be asked to move to other sites within the Trust depending on the needs of the Directorate
