South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides acute and community services across Teesside and North Yorkshire to over 1.5 million people. We are the largest hospital trust in the Tees Valley employing 9,000 staff and are currently offering opportunities for nurses to return to the NMC register whilst working with us in an employed capacity.

Are you a qualified Adult Nurse who’s Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration has lapsed? Would you like to return to nursing? Do you live in Teesside or North Yorkshire? If the answer is yes then we are offering you the opportunity to complete the Return to Practice (RtP) Programme (accredited by the NMC) from September 2018 in partnership with Teesside University.

You will be required to complete academic work (a 20 week programme) and a minimum number of clinical practice hours dependent on your time away from practice. Your university fees will be paid for.

You will be provided with a training placement within a nursing team, allowing you to complete the RtP programme whilst receiving a salary, with a guaranteed Band 5 post upon successful completion of the programme and return to the NMC Register.

Opportunities are available within various specialties across our acute hospitals and community services within STEES.

A sign off mentor will be provided to support you in your exciting new journey. Once you have completed the programme you will be supported through our preceptorship programme, and your on-going professional development.

Throughout your RtP training you will be employed in a substantive Band 3 post which will progress to a Band 5 position on successful completion of the course and re-registration to the NMC. Full time and part time posts are available (the minimum hours recommended for part time are 22.5 hours per week to enable university attendance and effective practice experience).

***Please note you MUST also apply DIRECTLY to the University of Teesside via their Return to Practice page to gain a place on the Return to Practice course starting in September 2018. If you do not secure your place with the university you will NOT be interviewed/employed by the trust***

Interviews for the September intake usually take place around July. This will be confirmed closer to the time.
