76Unlike other job adverts you see, working as a consultant in ED at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) really offers the fabled balance between working in a busy Emergency Department and having a life outside of work.

A Major Trauma Unit, set within a vibrant and cosmopolitan University City, the NNUH is one of the top 10 biggest trusts in the UK. We are a modern, bright and airy campus style hospital which links directly to the University of East Anglia (UEA) and the world leading John Innes research park. Set within the beautiful county of Norfolk where house prices are still affordable. Where else could you be in the centre of London or walking on some of the best unspoilt beaches in Europe within less than 2 hours?

When you join our team you will be able to perform ‘real’ emergency medicine e.g. performing Ultrasound in the department, intravenous sedation and rapid sequence intubation. You can be part of the team managing our 160 trauma calls per year.

Flexible working is at our heart of our consultant team. Whether it is time to pursue other interests, weekend working, fixed days or annualised job plans you are looking for, we can accommodate and already do for our existing team. If you looking for something more exciting, we can also offer secondments such as the air ambulance; you tell us what you would like.

Our on-going success in the Emergency Services Department has recently been recognised with an investment of £1 million to further develop and expand our teaching focused department. At present we are training FY, ACCS, GPST and EM HSTs within the department and have very close links with the medical school at the UEA.
As a result of the above we are now looking to expand the existing consultant team who currently provide one of the best patient experiences in the country, seeing over 120,000 attendances per year. The CQC recently gave special recognition regarding the excellent care provided by members of our ED team. To add to this reputation we have the best TARN figures in the East of England.

Well don’t just take our word for it, come visit us and see for yourself.
