Consultant Paediatrician

Named Doctor/Medical Advisor with responsibility for looked after children

We are looking for a dynamic Consultant Paediatrician with an interest in looked after children and for leading delivery of non-acute child protection medicals.

This is a unique post covering both general paediatric outpatient clinics as well as providing essential care and management of looked after children for our region. Additionally this role is the primary provider of non-acute child protection medicals for the area.

You will be part of the core Consultant staff running general paediatric outpatient clinics in a busy district general hospital - providing care for more than 14,500 outpatient appointments per year.

Working closely with the rest of the safeguarding team for Kingston, you will be the Named Doctor for looked after children, working within the community paediatric department to provide essential regular health reviews and coordinating the management of around 120 looked after children. You will be the responsible clinician for the delivery of non-acute child protection medicals and report writing for around 40 such medicals per year.

There is no acute paediatric commitment and no out of hours on call requirement.

This position is for 7 PAs per week and is permanent. We welcome applications from those wishing to job share. You will need to be in possession of a CCT in Paediatrics (or equivalent) or within 6 months of achieving CCT from the date of interview.
