Registered Nurse

HMP Whatton

£25,000 - £29,000 per annum

Hours: 37.5 hours over 7 days per week including weekends and bank holidays. (07.30 to 17.00 or 18.30 Monday to Friday and 08.30 to 13.00 weekends and bank holidays)

Currently we deliver services to 9 police forces and conduct over 75,000 medical interventions every year in over 50 police custody facilities and prison environments throughout England and Wales.

Our experienced healthcare professionals are on hand 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to ensure that patients are assessed, their health needs addressed and to assist the police in conducting forensic medical examinations to gather evidence for use in the criminal justice system.

We are looking for a dynamic registered nurse with either Chronic Disease Management Skills or Urgent Care Skills to join our team providing health assessments and nursing care for prisoners within Her Majesty's Prison Service.

Main Duties:

  • Accurately monitor and record observations on patients' conditions
  • Maintain accurate records of residents care, financial procedures, and medication administration
  • Identify care planning needs
  • Carry out risk assessment
  • Record patients' vital signs and medical information
  • Reevaluate patient care plan as conditions change
  • Consult and coordinate with other healthcare team members
  • Manage stocks of supplies
  • Ensure storage and disposal of medication is carried out according to policy
  • Maintain continuing education and licensing requirements
  • Report any issues that arose during each shift
  • Work with other members of the team to ensure that the service is provided at all times. Including demonstrating flexibility and acting supportively at all times
  • Assist in the training of new team members
  • Keep accurate, complete and contemporaneous notes of work carried out, including the recording of injuries. Ensure all activities are logged using the systems in use

Joining our people centred company you will:

  • Be a RGN or Dual qualified RGN/Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN)
  • Have full membership of the Nursing and Midwifery Council
  • Have previous experience within either A & E, Urgent Care or Chronic Disease Management
  • Have been continually resident in the UK for the last 36 months
  • Have a full UK driving licence
  • Be competent in oral and written English
