Defence Primary HealthCare (Dental) is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated Civilian Dental Practitioner to work within the Ministry of Defence.

You will be responsible to the Senior Dental Surgeon, as part of a small dental team, to provide primary dental care to the military population to achieve dental fitness targets in a modern, well equipped, preventive practice.

The remit of this post includes both routine and emergency treatment to Faculty of General Dental Practice(UK) standards and you will be required to comply with all DPHC(Dental) policies which support the Oral Health Strategy.

The post will involve some administrative duties and you will be required to participate in a regional, non-resident on-call scheme to deal with dental emergencies outside normal working hours. On occasion, you might also be required to work in other nearby MOD dental clinics.

Part of your duties also involve line management responsibilities for dental nursing and ancillary staff.

A full UK Driving Licence is desirable, as you may be required to travel to other local military establishments to provide dental treatment.

It is also desirable that you should have a working knowledge of Dental IT systems and have basic computer literacy (training will be provided in the use of DPHC practice management software).

The successful candidate must be registered with the General Dental Council (GDC) and either; have undertaken Foundation Dentist Training (or have qualified before foundation training became compulsory in the NHS); or have evidence of adequate clinical experience (either in the UK or abroad) to be able to practice independently.

The successful candidate must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is security check.
