Senior Clinical Fellow in Anaesthesia

Job Reference: 190-STH.18.21

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Post length: 12-18 months

Applications are invited for a SENIOR CLINICAL FELLOW post within Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Sheffield Children’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

This post would suit an applicant looking for an out of training fellowship during their specialty training or for an applicant that has successfully completed their specialty training.

We are able to offer tailor-made rotations, and are keen to support those looking to gain approval of training via the CESR route. There will be a designated Consultant supervisor for the duration of the rotation.

We are looking for enthusiastic, hardworking individuals who are looking to further their clinical experience, whilst also gaining experience in non-clinical aspects of the job. Our department is extremely committed to training and supporting all clinical staff.

We are a large department split across 2 geographical sites and are one of 3 major trauma centres in the Yorkshire and Humber region. Whilst with us there will be plenty of opportunity to become involved with teaching, audit and research. We are also extremely committed to Service and Quality improvement and have a very strong team working in this field, which is also something that interested individuals can get involved in. We run local courses for both the primary and final FRCA and would strongly encourage our clinical fellows to take part in those as needed.

The post itself, will give the opportunity to rotate through the following sub-specialties – Cardiothoracics, Neuro-anaesthesia, Intensive Care Medicine, Obstetrics, Paediatrics, and General Anaesthesia and Chronic pain for 3 month allocations.

It would be expected that a Senior Clinical Fellow will be working with a degree of independence with senior consultant support and distant supervision available at all times. We would strongly support audit and/or research interest, of which there is plenty to get involved with in the department. They would also take part in the on call rota which is currently a 1 in 7, which we are hoping to change imminently to a 1 in 8.

Should further vacancies arise, shortlisted candidates will be considered.

Applications from those unable, for personal reasons, to work on a whole time basis or job share basis will be considered.

Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. The UK Visas and Immigration department requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.

From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement.
