The NHS in England is recruiting health visitors.

Between now and 2015, the NHS in England is recruiting 4,200 more health visitors to improve the health and well-being of children, families and communities.

Health visitors are qualified nurses or midwives who have undertaken further postgraduate training. A vital part of the healthcare team, they work in community with children and young families to improve health outcomes.

Health visiting is a diverse and challenging role that involves working with families and communities over several years. A career in health visiting would suit nurses and midwives with an interest in health promotion and public health.

If you are already a qualified nurse or midwife, visit the NHS Careers website for more information and to find courses near you.

If you're a qualified health visitor and are interested in returning to the profession, we'd love to have you back. You can find more information and details of return to practice courses on the NHS Careers website.
